FlexGC is a grassroots network that formed in April 2020 to support public servants in the sudden transition to remote work in a time of deep anxiety & uncertainty. Our goal is to take a human-centred approach to helping our colleagues across Canada identify and adapt to the tools, practices, and mindsets they need to successfully work from wherever they may be. We combine our efforts to share credible, helpful, clear and empathetic information, and resources on working remotely.
So what can we do for you?
We’d love to connect with your team, network or community of practice to share some of our advice about remote and flexible work, AND to learn from your experiences. Topics we currently present on include:

And we are actively expanding our offerings to respond to the needs of public servants.
All presentations are done online on the platform of your choice (e.g. MSTeams, Zoom, WebEx, etc.). We take a co-host approach which means we bring the presenters and the content while you handle the logistics (technology, invitations, hosting).
Typically, we like to present on a topic, and then open an informal dialogue that allows our participants and FlexGC Network members to learn from each other. We are happy to do follow-ups with individuals or groups to respond to particular needs.
Along the way, the FlexGC Network is collecting data in the form of stories and information from real public servants grappling with the changes to their lives and work. Why? We use the information we collect to inform our presentations and other service offerings, as well as to advocate for and give voice to real public servants when we are asked to provide input to official government products. All information we collect is anonymous.
What we can’t do
FlexGC Network is not an “official” Government of Canada network. We are a group of volunteers who want to help make the transition to remote work easier by sharing our experience with others. While we can point you in the right direction, we cannot provide official departmental guidance.
